Abbeville – A Mass of Christian Burial for Riley J. Trahan, 78, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Vincent funeral Home of Abbeville on Friday, May 4, 2012 from noon until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, May 5, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery on Jacqueline St. with Reverend William C. Blanda officiating the services.
Riley was born in Cow Island and lived most of his adult life in Abbeville. He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He owned his own business, Riley J. Trahan Welding and Lease Service, trained race horses, and loved horse racing and to garden. He was rarely seen without wearing his cowboy hat and boots. He was known to his many friends and family as “Pal”. He will be remembered by his family and friends as kind and generous, a constant joker and a Johnny Cash fan.
He is survived by wife, Ruby (Simon) Trahan of Abbeville; three children: Randall Trahan, Shelva Trahan, Steven and wife Janis (Grissett) Trahan, four grandchildren: Angelle Humble, Alexis, Brooke, and Erin Trahan; and his sister, Ollie (Trahan) Noel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wildred and Loretta (Burford) Trahan; and his brother, Murray Trahan.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Andre “Peanut” Lemaire, Allen Richardson, Paul E. “Robbie” Trahan, Shane Miguez, Darrell Turner, and Shawn Fritz.
