Ruth Barras Meyers

January 14, 1923 — May 20, 2012

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Ruth Meyers, 89, who died Sunday, May 20, 2012 of complications arising from COPD, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Scott DesOrmeaux officiating the services.

Mrs. Meyers was a loving mother and grandmother who will be remembered mostly for her kindness, love and concern for her family. Her great love and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Crowe of Houston, grandson Bobby Glasscock of Houston, nephews Ray Barras and wife Jane of Abbeville, and Billy Barras and wife Sherry of Abbeville, cousin Rita Romero and her daughter Judy Bergeron, both of Abbeville, and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father William Barras, Sr., mother Hattie Blanchette Barras, and brother William Barras, Jr.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Judy Bergeron and Cindy Elliott for their kindness and loving care over the years.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Monday, May 21, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visiting hours will resume on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
