Lula Marie Menard Monteaux
February 11, 1924 — September 30, 2007
She will be laid to rest at the Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Erath, LA, with Fr. William Blanda officiating.
Mrs. Monteaux was a loving and compassionate wife, mother and friend who will be remembered for her immaculate yard. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was born in Erath and has lived in Abbeville over 60 years. She was a Trator who treated people suffering from burns. She was strong in her faith and had a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Lula is survived by a daughter, Deanna “Dee” Monteaux Charpentier and husband Shelton of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend of 62 years, Edias Monteaux; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Odelias and Elida Broussard Menard; eight brothers, Otto, Odes, Dolza, Amar, Eliar, Elton “Bee”, Eves, and Wilton “T-Pit” Menard; and a sister, Willa Menard Romero.
The family request that visitation be held at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville on Sunday, September 30, 2007 from 3 PM till 10 PM and reopen on Monday, October 1, 2007 at 8 AM till service time at 10 AM. A rosary will be prayed at 7 pm Sunday.
The family would like to extend thanks to all of her doctors and their staff, and a special thanks to St. Theresa Hospice and Concept of Care especially Christy for her compassion and care which always brightened her day. Also the family would life to thank her wonderful sitters; Diane, Dennis and Jerry; and to all her family, friends and neighbors especially Aunt Codrey, Paul, Cathy and Mertz. A heart felt thanks to all.
