Lewis James Faciane

November 16, 1921 — June 25, 2012

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Lewis James Faciane, 90, who died Monday, June 25, 2012 at his residence.

He will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with his grandson, Rev. Jeffery Phillips officiating the services. Vocalist will be his granddaughter, Lydia Bru. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Faciane, Nick Faciane, Joe Spell, Ben Spell, Miles Phillips, Jacob Faciane, Barry Faciane and Clifford Duitt.

Lewis was the owner/President of Intracoastal City Dry Dock and Ship Building. He served in the U.S. Army during the European Theatre in World War II. He was the past chairman of the Vermilion Parish Harbor and Terminal Board and a past member of the Republican State Central Committee. He was Master of Abbeville Masonic Lodge and Grand Master of the State of Louisiana Free and Accepted Masons. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was also Potentate of Habibi Shrine Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Annette West Faciane; six sons, Frank Phillips and his wife, Judy of Mobile, AL, James Faciane and his wife, Susan of Abbeville, William Faciane and his wife, Lisa of Abbeville, Lewis Cecil Faciane of Abbeville, Henry Faciane and his wife, Dana of Abbeville, and John Faciane and his wife, Ronda of Youngsville; two daughters, Jackie Schrader and her husband, Wayne of Lansing, Michigan, and Beverly Spell and her husband, Carrol of Milton; one sister, Lorry DeBatista; twenty grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ellis Faciane and the former Daisy Naomi Broom; four brothers, Cecil, Talmadge, Gerard and Harold Faciane; and three sisters, Joanne, Naomi and Joyce.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 1:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Wednesday, June 27, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
