Zoie Leblanc Lege

February 7, 1916 — July 15, 2012

Abbeville-Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at a 3:30 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Zoie LeBlanc Lege, 96, who died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Eastridge Nursing Center in Abbeville, Louisiana. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery in Abbeville with Fr. William Blanda officiating the services.

Pallbearers will be her seven grandsons.

She is survived by her son Ray Lege and his wife Joyce of Abbeville, daughter Joycie and her husband Curtis Broussard of Maurice, and daughter Cheryl L. Meaux of Meaux; one brother, Berney LeBlanc of Wappingers Falls, New York; fifteen grandchildren, Connie L. Rost, Terry Lege, Jodie L. Bertrand, Duane Lege, Randy Lege, Toni L. Williams, Michelle L. Hebert, Jackie B. Broussard, Jimmy Broussard, Janine B. Hebert, Janetta B. Touchet, Joey Broussard, Jerod Broussard, Chris Meaux and Stacie M. Thompson; thirty-six great-grandchildren, and twenty-one great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Joseph Lege; parents Duprelon LeBlanc and the former Adele Bergeron; three sisters, Lucy L. Frederick, Una L. Theriot and Eula L. Faulk; three brothers, Eunice, Essie, Sr., and D.A. LeBlanc; and one grandchild, Bonnie Kaye Lege.


Zoie was a deeply religious and prayerful woman. She was a member of Our Lady of the Brown Scapular Lay Carmelite Community. The members of the community will lead a rosary at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 1:30 pm.

The family would like to extend special thanks to all who assisted in caring for Mrs. Lege, especially the staff of Vermilion Health Care Center in Nunez, where she volunteered for many years before becoming a resident for several years, the staff of Eastridge Nursing Center where she lived the past couple of years until her death, and the numerous sitters who treated her with love and compassion.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home in Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Monday, July 16, 2012 from 4:00 until 9:00 pm, with a rosary recited at 7:00 pm, and Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 10:00 am until departure for the church.
