Earline "Flossie" Menard Lege

February 15, 1933 — August 11, 2012

Gueydan—Funeral services will be held Monday, August 13, 2012 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Earline Menard Lege, age 79, who was called to heaven on Saturday, August 11, 2012 surrounded by her beloved family. Following the Mass, Earline will be laid to rest in the Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Jason Vidrine officiating the services.

Earline, better known as Flossie, was born to Rosa and Noah Menard on February 15, 1933. Earline worked as a nurse for many years with Dr. Logan Gardiner and her other dear friends at the Gueydan Hospital and Clinic. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her beloved family and many cherished friends. She also loved to cook. Her Christmas Eve gumbo, seafood eggrolls and homemade vegetable soup will be missed. Earline’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, Jessica and Gregory Verret, who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Tina Lege Verret and her son-in-law, Nathan Verret, Jr. Earline is also survived by her brother, Charles Menard of Lake Arthur, LA and sister, Mitzi Louvierre and her husband, Lee “Shorty” Louvierre of Gueydan, LA.

Earline was welcomed into heaven by her beloved family whom preceded her in death: her husband, Nelson Roy Lege; her parents, Rosa and Noah Menard; her siblings, Oris Menard, Mildred Benoit, Noah Menard Jr., and Laura Menard; her nephews, Randy “Butch” Menard and Danny Louvierre; and her niece, Caroline “Poulette” Hebert.

Visitation will be held at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth Street, Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a roasry being prayed at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, August 13 from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church. Carrying Earline to her final resting place will be Rusty Menard, Carl Prejean, Michael Istre, Sam Fluitt, Ellis Nunez, and Danny Abshire.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff of the 4th and 5th floors at Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette especially James, Jude, Patty, Darlene, Monique, Becky, Fey, Cindi, Vanessa, Courtney, and Felicia, Dr. Joseph Brierre, Dr. James Mwatibo, and Heart of Hospice. They appreciate all of the support and love poured into the care of Earline and her family.
