Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Rene Dale Trahan, 65, who died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at his residence. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Deacon Billy Vincent officiating the services.
Mr. Trahan was a United States Army veteran who served our country in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion. He was devoted to praying. It was his faith and sense of humor that made him such a great source of strength for others during his time of illness. In the saddest of times, he could still make you smile.
He is survived by his fiancée, Celena Gaspard of Kaplan; three daughters, Tonya Aymond and her husband, Robert of St. Francisville, Lesley T. Simon and her husband, Brady of Kaplan, and Leah Trahan of Lafayette; two sisters, Brenda Tisdale of Maurice and Lucinda Trahan of Linden, Texas; three brothers, Clifford Trahan of Kaplan, Randy Trahan of Kaplan, and Rickey Trahan of New Jersey; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sava Trahan and the former Mathilde Saltzman.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 8 a.m. until services.
