Algene "Jean" Primeaux Lemaire

June 8, 1943 — August 29, 2012

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 1, 2012 at a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Mission Chapel honoring the life of Algene "Jean" Primeaux Lemaire, 69, who died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend D. Blaine Clement officiating the services.


Mrs. LeMaire was a longtime resident of Kaplan, Louisiana. She was a retired cook and housekeeper. She was a member of the American Legion LeJeune Boudreaux Post 271. She was a member of the Cajun Culture Association and loved dancing to Cajun French music. She first started dancing to French music at a very young age with her father. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

She is survived by six daughters, Willie Mae and her husband, Tony Meaux of Kaplan, Patricia A. Broussard of Kaplan, Sedra A. and her husband, Keith Marceaux of Meaux, Mona Raye Adams of Kaplan, Rachelle Ann Adams of Kaplan, and Stephanie A. and her husband, Albert Sonnier of Meaux; one sister, Eula Mae Schexnider of Indian Bayou; one brother, Edward Primeaux of Gueydan; fourteen grandchildren, Marcus Broussard, Steven Broussard, Bobby Broussard, Bonnie McMillan, Brooke Demette, Tyler Demette, Cade Marceaux, Keisha Marceaux, Tricia Adams, Kendal Primeaux, Sara Primeaux, Curtis "C.J." Abshire Jr., Danna Sonnier, and Olivia Sonnier; and thirteen great grandchildren, Gracie Wasson, Jaselynn Broussard, Wyatt Broussard, Chance Broussard, Gage Broussard, Riley Broussard, Brady McMillan, Lane Demette, Braxton Demette, Graci Primeaux, Hunter Primeaux, Landon LeMaire and Parker LeMaire.


She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Adams; her second husband, Emelian LeMaire Jr.; her parents, Marsule Primeaux and the former Anna Lege; one granddaughter, Tammy Lynn Broussard; one infant sister, Willie Mae Primeaux; and one brother, Chester Primeaux.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Saturday, September 1, 2012 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
