Graveside services for Ollie L. Benefield, 99, will be held at New Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery on Tuesday September 4, 2012, in Haynesville, Louisiana. Ollie was a member of New Ramah Baptist Church for over 50 years. Gordon Wayne Rogers will officiate for the services.

Ollie was born in Rosten, Arkansas on July 28, 1913, to Milton and Lucy Atkins McKissack. She passed away August 31, 2012, at Camelot Nursing Home in Broussard, Louisiana, where she was a resident for the past year and a half. Ollie was a former resident of Lafayette, Louisiana and Abbeville, Louisiana where she owned Benefield’s Restaurant for many years.

Ollie was preceded in death by her husband C.D. Benefield, brother Earl McKissack, and Evelyn Mabry. She is survived by daughters Nancy B. Taylor, son-in-law Allen Taylor, Patricia McSheffrey and son-in-law Michael G. McSheffrey Sr. Grandchildren Lisa Benefield, Charmaine L. Cuccia, Leah Miller, and Michael G. McSheffrey Jr., all of Layayette. Great-grandchildren Deshawn Montgomery, Peyton Cuccia, Nicholas Cuccia, Riley McSheffrey, Christian Gabriel, Brianna Gabriel, and twins Brooklyn and Brandon Gabriel. Great-great grandson Jaden Patrick Montgomery.

The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, and Camelot Nursing Home and staff for the excellent care given to Ollie. Special thanks to Margaret and Charles W. Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas for everything they did for “Aunt Ollie.”
