Lena Frederick "Malena" Desormeaux

August 2, 1918 — September 10, 2012

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Lena Frederick Desormeaux, 94, who died Monday, September 10, 2012 at her residence.

She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Father Kendall Faulk officiating the services. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Randy Campbell, Lance Hebert, Scott Hebert, Eddie Hebert, Gary Hebert and Jarod Hebert. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Hebert. Her granddaughters will be lectors and gift bearers.

Lena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, friend and neighbor. She loved visiting with family and friends. She loved company. She was a great cook and liked playing cards, gardening and doing handiwork. She enjoyed many good times at their camp in Holly Beach. She was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and a member of St. Theresa Altar Society. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.


She is survived by her three daughters, Gloria Hebert and her husband, Donald, Hazel Campbell, and Edylene Hebert and her husband, Dennis, all of Abbeville; two sisters, Elvina Campbell and Marjorie Stelly, both of Abbeville; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and seventeen great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Desormeaux; parents, Felix Frederick and the former Victoria Bourque; three brothers, Ulyess Frederick, Joe Frederick and Lloyd Frederick; four sisters, Adella Savoy, Eunice Savoy, Adele Hebert and Josephine Devillier; and son-in-law, Lercy Campbell.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Wednesday, September 12, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.

The family would like to thank all the nurses, aids, doctors and deacon from Hospice of Acadiana and her care givers, Dot Trahan (godchild) and Faye Dronet for their loving care and devotion to her.
