Wayne Paul Landry

November 1, 1943 — September 13, 2012

He will be laid to rest with graveside services per Mr. Landry's wishes at LeMaire Cemetery, Cow Island, La on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. Reverend Keith Landry will officiate the services. Mr. Landry passed away while in the care of Heart of Hospice. He served in the US Navy 1961 - 1964 and will be honored with a 21-gun salute by the Vermilion Honor Guard.

He lived a majority of his life as a boat captain and a farmer until becoming disabled. He enjoyed raising and breeding Game Cocks, gardening and yard work, working on home and farm projects with his daughter and wife, spoiling his granddaughter and visiting outside with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda LeMaire Landry; one daughter, Susan L Thompson & husband Mike; one granddaughter, Jordan Thompson, all of Cow Island, La.; two sisters, Marie L. Rinto & husband Ron of Sulphur & family and Mary L. Duhon & husband Kerney of Jefferson Island & family; one uncle, Leewood Broussard of Lafayette & family; and one son, Shane Landry and family of Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Enol Broussard Landry of Abbeville; his father, V.P. (Paul) Landry of Erath; his mother-in-law, Lavergnia (T-low) Dartez LeMaire and father-in-law, Paul (Rube) LeMaire of Cow Island; an infant brother; and 3 infant grandsons.

His sister (Marie) once told him he was the richest man she'd known, perhaps not because of money, but because of his many caring friends. The family would like to thank Jackie Dartez, Robert and Ruby Duck, Jeff Delcambre, Curtis Segura, JC Suire, M/M Darvey Dupuis, M/M LeRoy Simon, M/M Ellis Rung, Jr., Ms. Judy Conner, Ms. Grace Simon, and M/M Nelson Gaspard for the support given to him, the joy of life, and much laughter you provided to him. Special thanks to Dr. Gus Ingraldi of CIS Lafayette, Dr. Harwood and staff at Oncologics Crowley, for the extra care from Heart of Hospice staff, and his nurse Tara B. for her patience with him.
