Jeffery James Meaux
February 9, 1933 — November 3, 2007
Mr. Meaux was a member of the Parish Council for St. Mary Magdalen, he was one of the first three members appointed as Eucharistic Minister, serving for 32 years as such.
Jeffery was a former member of the Jaycees, Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce in Abbeville and Lafayette, Better Business Bureau of Lafayette, President and Board Member of Louisiana Finance Association, Board Member, President and CEO of American Discount Corporation, a Licensed Insurance Agent, former Licensed Real Estate Salesman and Notary Public since 1964.
Along with serving his community, Jeffery served his country during the Korean Conflict, in the Air Force for four years reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dolores Ledet Meaux; one son, Benjie Meaux and wife Deborah; four daughters, Jodie Lemaire, Annette Duhon and husband Darren, Donna Noel and husband James Jr., and Nancy Meaux and husband Michael all of Abbeville; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Adonis Joseph Meaux; mother, Ledie Monlezun Meaux; two brothers, A.J.Meaux and Lloyd Mouton; three sisters, Leola Mouton, Louise Griffith and Nita Choate; and a son in law, Kevin Lemaire.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jeremy Meaux, Brody Meaux, Barret Lemaire, Grant Lemaire, Seth Lemaire, Jacob Duhon and Corey Meaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brock Huval and Ross Duhon.
Gift bearers will be his granddaughters, April Meaux, Alaina Meaux, Lily Noel and Madison Meaux.
Lectors will be Joan Methvin and Oneziene Mouton.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville, Sunday, November 4th, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, November 5th, from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
