Roy Joseph Meaux

He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Shane Broussard, Chris Meaux, Troy Broussard, Chad Meaux, Blake Romero and Tyler Meaux.
Mr. Meaux was a lifelong resident of Abbeville, Louisiana and formerly served in the Army National Guard Unit in Abbeville. He was retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural carrier. After his retirement, he devoted a great deal of his time to growing a vegetable garden, raising chickens and collecting old treasures which he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He leaves behind many wonderful memories.
He is survived by his wife, Mable Baudoin Meaux; three sons, Michael Meaux and his wife, Katharine of Abbeville, Keith Meaux and his wife, Monette of Abbeville, and Kern Meaux of Henry; three daughters, Rachel Meaux Rung of Abbeville, Charlene Romero and her husband, Ronnie of Abbeville, and Cindy Broussard and her husband, Tim of Abbeville; brother, Francis Meaux of Abbeville; two sisters, Anita Broussard of Port Arthur, TX and Annie Trahan of Abbeville; ten grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Didier Meaux and the former Josephine Gisclair; brothers, Didier Elie Meaux and Joseph "Cotchie" Meaux; and sister Ella Baudoin.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, September 22, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
