Ovey "Red" Bernard Richard, Jr.

He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Rev. Louis Richard officiating the services.
Red established Richard’s Seafood Patio in 1957, ran the business with his wife and children alongside until 1983, when he retired. He also raised cattle and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, thoroughly enjoyed life, his family and friends. The family extends special thanks to Juanita Landry, Tammy Thibodeaux and Treva Touchet who cared for him during his last months. Also, thanks to Heart of Hospice during this time.
He is survived by his wife, Winnie Champagne Richard of Abbeville; three sons, Alvin Richard and wife Deborah of Erath, Calvin Richard of Abbeville and Patrick Richard and wife Sonia of Germany; three daughters, Theresa Guidry and husband Jason of Abbeville, Florine Vincent and husband Billy of Abbeville and Diane Frederick of Abbeville; one brother, Otis Richard of Abbeville; fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ovey B. Richard Sr.; mother, Henrietta Libersat Richard; three brothers, Ovide Richard, Henry Richard and Adea Richard; two sisters, Louise Stevens and Eula Dubois and grandson, Jason Guidry, Jr.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for church.
