Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Elida Champagne Luquette, 72, who died December 3, 2007 at her home. She will be laid to rest in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery with Father Wayne Duet officiating the services. She is survived by her husband of 56 years John Luquette Sr.; three sons, John “Sonny” Luquette Jr. and wife Sandra, Kenneth Luquette and wife Diane, Tony Luquette and wife Sherry; ten grandchildren, Krystal Summers and husband Pres, Brock Luquette and Jennifer, Ashley Speer and husband Jeff, Janise Gary, Kade Luquette, Cal Luquette, Natalie Luquette, Dane Luquette, Jason Latiolais and wife Ashley, Racheal Chapman and husband Danny; thirteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Edith Suire, Lawrence Landry and Elaine LeBlanc and husband Dale; two brothers Lester Champagne and wife Irene, Elie Champagne Sr. and wife Sharon; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her infant son, John Wayne Luquette; parents, Felician and Lillian Champagne; a sister, Rena Luquette; two nephews, Brent Champagne and Johnny Suire; and one niece, Judy Melancon. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville, Tuesday, December 4, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Wednesday December 5, 2007, from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. Pallbearers include Brock Luquette, Cal Luquette, Kade Luquette, Dane Luquette, Jason Latiolais and Pres Summers. The family would like to give a very special thanks to her dedicated and loving caregiver Marie Cole, and the staff of Journey Hospice.
