Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2012 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Ivy Joseph Blanchard, 69, who died Friday, October 5, 2012 at Heart Hospital of Lafayette.
“Cotton” owned and operated Ike’s Radiator Sales and Service for over 51 years. From 1971 until 1983 he also drove a school bus for the Vermilion Parish School Board and was a member of the Bus Drivers Association. He was “A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and special friend to all that knew him.”
He is survived by his loving wife, Melba Touchet Blanchard; son, Anthony Isaac Blanchard, M.D. and wife Shannon of Carencro; sisters, Patty Gross and husband Edward of Erath and Debora Hebert and husband Charles E. of Erath; five grandsons and one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Isaac Blanchard; mother, Edith Romero Blanchard; son, Christopher Ivy Blanchard; sister, Cara Sue Blanchard; father-in-law, Robert Touchet; and mother-in-law, Alta Touchet.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 1:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, October 8, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that masses be said at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church in his honor.
