Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Iris "Pep" Hebert, 85, who died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Kaplan Healthcare Center. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Keith Landry officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Paul, John, Brady, David, Elizabeth, and Brett Hebert. The readings for the service will be provided by Taylor Hebert and Nickie Jo Melancon.
Pep was a lifelong resident of Cow Island. He was a parishioner and an usher at St. Anne Catholic Church. He returned from military service in Germany in 1946. He married Millie Langlinais in 1950 and committed his life to providing for his family through farming. He was a hard working man of few words who had a true love for the land, the outdoors, and his family. He was most comfortable in rice fields, on a tractor or four-wheeler, or walking levees. Pep was loved by his family and respected in his community.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Millie Langlinais Hebert; two sons, Pat Hebert and his wife, Melissa of Cow Island and Craig Hebert and his wife, Tammy of Kaplan; one sister, Zula Mae Frederick and her husband, Harry of Kaplan; one brother, Ewell Hebert and his wife, Zula of Cow Island; six grandchildren, Paul Hebert and his wife, Ashley of Lafayette, John Hebert and his wife, Nicki of Cow Island, Brady Hebert and his wife, Taylor of Kaplan, David Hebert and his girlfriend, Nickie Jo Melancon of Cow Island, Elizabeth Hebert of Cow Island, and Brett Hebert and his fiancée, Whitney Willis of Lafayette; and great grandchildren, Jude, Aaron, Jake, Austen, Luke, Sprague, Asa, and Naomi Hebert, and Nichole, Dennis, and Jeanne Menard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel Hebert and the former Edolie Boudreaux; and one sister, Audrey Jerome.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 8 a.m. until services.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Kaplan Healthcare Center, Southern Care Hospice, and his doctors for the kind care they provided to him.
