Connie Cormier Allen

September 21, 1954 — February 2, 2008

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2008, at Abbeville United Methodist Church in Abbeville for Connie Cormier Allen, 53, who transitioned to her Lord on Saturday , February 2nd, 2008, at her home in Lafayette. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 9 a.m. until time of service on Monday. Deacon Cody Miller will recite the rosary on Sunday evening at 7 p.m., with Reverends Wayne Howington and John Vining officiating Connie’s funeral services. Interment will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Abbeville.
Survivors include her husband, Rollie Allen, Jr.; her son, Michael Frederick and his wife, Shawne of Lafayette; step-daughter, Paula Allen Matherne, and her husband, Byron of Lafayette; and step-son, John “Jay” Allen, and his wife, Kim of Richfield, Idaho. Her mother, Genevieve “Genny” Cain of Baldwin and her step-father, Jack Cain of New Iberia; two sisters, Maxine Vaccarella and Damion “Dee Dee” Guillory of Lafayette; two brothers, Brent Cormier of Austin, Texas; and Matthew Cain of New Iberia, also survives Connie. She is the proud and loving Nana of seven grandchildren: Christian, Damien and Connor Frederick and Byron Matherne, Jr., all of Lafayette; and Krista, Philip and Kyndyl Allen of Richfield, Idaho. Connie is also survived by a large, close-knit loving family, friends, and lifelong girlfriends.
Per Connie’s request, Michael Vaccarella, Lonnie Monteaux, Chris Gaspard, Ardley Kern, Elray Boudreaux, Byron Matherne, Sr., and Brian Guillory will serve as Pallbearers to carry her to her final resting place.
Connie also lovingly named her Honorary Pallbearers as follows: her brothers, Brent Cormier and Matthew Cain; her nephews, Nicholas Vaccarella, Jason Cormier, Jude and Seth Guillory; Cameron and Tony Cain; her grandson, Byron Matherne, Jr., and her dear friends, Dale Hardy and Mike McCullough.
She was preceded in death by her father, Oris Cormier of Abbeville, and her brother, Anthony “Tony” Cain of Franklin.
The family expresses special thanks to the staff and volunteers of Hospice of Acadiana, the wonderful family of Northwood United Methodist Church in Lafayette, Dr. Gary Burton and his wonderful staff from Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, Dr. Anil Nanda and his loving staff, all of Shreveport, and Dr. M. Maitland Deland and the staff of Oncologics in Lafayette. Heartfelt love and gratitude are extended to the legion of family and friends who surrounded Connie with support, love, and laughter during her final journey home.
