Capt. James Larry “Hoss” Mitchell Sr.

Abbeville— Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of James Larry Mitchell Sr.

Capt James Larry “Hoss” Mitchell Sr. departed to be home with our Heavenly Father on December 14, 2012 at the age of 75. The son of Otto and Melba Baudoin Mitchell, he was born on December 28, 1936. He leaves behind but closely watches over, one sister Ora Laviolette; son, Cory J. Mitchell Sr.; daughter, Catherine Mitchell and Vanity Duhon Wilette; daughter-in-law, Barbara Mitchell; and twelve grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Mitchell.

He was a legendary,
innovative and charismatic sportsman. With his two sons he started the first bow fishing charter by way of airboat in south Louisiana. Over the last 25 years he owned and operated Mitchell's Airboat Charter Service. After retiring in 2006 he moved to Daphne, Alabama where he resided with his son and daughter-in-law.

He will most certainly be missed by all of his friends and family.

The family will open at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 for a rosary and gathering at St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
