Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Velma Broussard Lormand, 92, who died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend D. Blaine Clement officiating the services. Palbearers will be her grandsons.
She is survived by one son, Percy Lormand Jr. of Kaplan; three daughters, Patricia Serice and her husband, Maurice of Pearland, Texas, Mary Pope of Houston, Texas, and Joan Guidry and her husband, Ray of Eunice; three sisters, Gertie Broussard of Abbeville, Zula Broussard and her husband, Clarence of Leroy, and Margaret Roy of Slidell; two brothers, Andrew Broussard and his wife, Rena of Delcambre and George Broussard and his wife, Elaine of Baton Rouge; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Lormand Sr.; parents, Remi Broussard and the former Claudia Duhon; six sisters, Ada Guidry, Nella Lalande, Gladys Frederick, Mae Dora Boudreaux, Sadie Brown, and Annie Grace Broussard; one daughter-in-law, Marie Istre Lormand; and her son-in-law, Jesse Pope.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Friday, January 4, 2013 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
