Genevieve H. Simon

April 29, 1919 — January 16, 2013

Gueydan—Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan honoring the life of Genevieve Hungerford Simon, 93, who died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at her daughter's residence in Lafayette. She will be laid to rest at the Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Jason Vidrine officiating the services.

Genevieve was a descendant of two pioneer families in the Gueydan area.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Simon-Deshotels of Lafayette; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Murphy Stewart of Lake Charles; son-in-law, Don Alford of Katy, Texas; three sisters, Margaret Hutchinson of New Iberia, Blanche H. Susong of Thorntown, Indiana, and Frances H. Hankins of Thorntown, Indiana; five grandchildren, Jason Deshotels and wife, Cindy of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Kristy Deshotels Dye and husband, Jeremy of Shreveport, Brittney Simon of Lake Charles, Melissa Simon of Baton Rouge, and Cyndi Simon of Lake Charles; and two great grandchildren, Hudson and Shephard Dye, both of Shreveport. Special thanks to caregiver, Shannon Harrison and a devoted friend, Nelly Kahn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Simon; parents, Oscar and Adele Hungerford; beloved daughter, Cindi Simon Alford; beloved son, James R. Simon; and sister, Inez Hungerford-Romero.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth Street, on Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 8 a.m. until services. A rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m.
