Loula Thibodeaux Daigle

August 13, 1923 — January 16, 2013

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Monday, January 21, 2013 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Loula Thibodeaux Daigle, 89, who died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at her residence.

She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Ethan Starks, John Starks, Calvin Landry, Glen Michaud, Taylor Thibodeaux and Steve Vincent.

Loula Daigle spent most of her life as a resident of Vermilion Parish. As a young lady, while working at The Get Cafe in Abbeville, she met her husband Wellington “Willie” Joseph Daigle. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage and had four children. Loula and Willie, known by many as “Aunt Loula and Uncle Willie”, created a home of love and laughter where friends and family were always welcomed. At her table you would find great food, unconditional love, good stories, and lots of laughs. Loula truly excelled at being a homemaker and gave Christ like service to those in need. She spent her later years living in Alexandria, Louisiana with her daughter, making wonderful memories with grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, attending church activities, playing Rook, and most importantly spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Willie Marie Starks; sons, Brady Daigle and Scott Daigle; brother Wilson Thibodeaux; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wellington “Willie” Joseph Daigle; son, Michael Wayne Daigle; her parents Clemile Thibodeaux, Sr. and Emilda Broussard Thibodeaux; three brothers, Sheldon Thibodeaux, Clemile Thibodeaux, Jr., and Ogden “T.B” Thibodeaux; and three sisters, Velmae Toups, Velma Landry, and Lelia Boudoin.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Melanie Sattler who provided such loving care and the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice of Alexandria, especially Madonna Parr, Ashley Augustine and Deann Butler.


The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 2:00 pm. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, January 21, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
