Stella Abshire Duhon

August 12, 1925 — January 24, 2013

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Stella Abshire Duhon, 87, who died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Abbeville General Hospital.

She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Deacon William "Billy" Vincent officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Jerrod Duhon, Josh Duhon, Brady Abshire, Darren Demarcy, Charles Jumonville and Eddie Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Cade Boudreaux and Colby Boudreaux.

She is survived by her two sons, Albert L. Duhon, Jr. and his wife, Diana "Dee" of Abbeville and Roland Duhon of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Jerrod Duhon, Dannelle Boudreaux, Marc Duhon, Sydney Patton, Erica Cabrol, Casie Gaudet and Laurie Duhon; thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Adam Abshire, Jr. and Truman Abshire; and sister, Eve Richard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lloyd Duhon, Sr.; parents, Adam Abshire, Sr. and the former Alicia Thibeaux; son, Ray Allen Duhon; brothers, Otis Abshire, Alex Abshire, Alfred Abshire and Leo Abshire; sisters, Alice LeBlanc, Bernice Duhon, Jeanne Schexnider and Rosa Roache; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Cannon Duhon.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

The family would like to thank Abbeville General Hospital and staff, Dr. Ronald Lahasky, Dr. Weston Miller and her wounderful caregiver, Mrs. Elmae Knighten.
