Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Abbeville United Methodist Church honoring the life of Billy Wayne Broussard, 61 who died at his residence in Abbeville Saturday March 1, 2008.
Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Rev. John Vining will conduct the services.
Billy Wayne was born February 11, 1947 in Abbeville. He grew up and lived most of his life in Baton Rouge, LA., where he attended the Monte Sano School. While there, he was nominated and won the Courtesy Award. He was a member of the Road Runners at the Shelted Workshop and enjoyed many pleasurable trips. Billy made many life long friends.
Billy moved with his parents to Abbeville where he worked at Goodwill and became a member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church. Billy attended services each Sunday and greeted everyone with his loving handshake and heartwarming smile. The family would like to thank John Vining, minister and all the members of the Church for all their love and kindness throughout the years. Their generosity will live in our heart forever.
Billy’s love for life, along with the company of his family and friends shined through his ability to find his way to your hearts. His welcoming smile and loving hug let you know you were special to him. Billy made friends wherever he went and once he met someone, he never forgot them. His genuine spirit and generosity will live in the hearts of everyone who knew him, especially his cousins who looked up to him as their big brother. We all feel truly blessed to have had him in our lives.
Surviving Billy are his loving parents, Dudley & Hazel Broussard of Abbeville; his aunts, Ethel Vincent of Abbeville; Beatrice Frederick and her husband, George of Lafayette; Ruby Montet and her husband, Ned of Lafayette; Zoie B. LeBlanc of Abbeville and his uncle, Paul Broussard of Baton Rouge. Other survivors are his numerous cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
The family would like to thank Billy’s caregivers, Lily Harrison, Lou Ella Collins & Carol Dore for their wholehearted love and deep devotion. Gratitude is also extended to Sue Viator for her help and encouragement, as well as the wonderful staff of Acadian Home Health of Abbeville and Louisiana Hospice & Palliative Care of Jennings.
Pallbearers are Kent Montet, Tim Montet, Robert Rugg, Randy Rougeou, Keith Spragis and Oran Meche. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ned Montet, George Frederick, Paul Broussard, Johnny Richard, Rufus Palombo, Nick Dinaco, David Lastrapes and Martin Potier.
Visitation will be at the Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and resume Sunday at 8:00 am until service time.
