Albert Charles Steen, Sr.

August 14, 1923 — February 27, 2013

Abbeville—Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Albert Charles Steen, Sr. 89, President of C.S. Steen Syrup Mill, Inc. for over thirty years and past President/CEO of Creole Fermentation Industries, Inc., who died Wednesday, February 27, 2013.

He will be laid to rest at a later date with a private family service.

Mr. Steen was a Master Mason for 61 years in the Abbeville and Gueydan Masonic Lodges, the York Rite and Scottish Rite, as a Shriner and the 1990 Potentate of the Habibi Temple. Mr. Steen served in the Navy during WW II in the South Pacific.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Maillian Steen; three sons, Jimmie Steen and his wife, Clare, Charley Steen and his wife, Debi, and Bert Steen and his wife, Jyi; daughters, Carole Lucia and Debbie Steen; twelve grandchildren: Kathi Comeaux, Nicholas Boettner, Chase Steen, Ace Steen, Duke Steen, Clint Steen and Lillian Steen, all of Abbeville, Ian Trahan, Cheri Roane, and Sidney Songne, all of Lafayette, Dr. Vicki Steen of Madisonville, and Karl Trahan of Lemoore CA.; and sixteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley Sidney Steen and the former Lillian Broussard; one grandson, Jason Boettner; and great grandson Quint Roane.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made in memory of Albert Steen to either the Masonic Dyslexia Fund through the Abbeville Masonic Lodge, P.O. Box 512 Abbeville, LA 70510, Mt. Carmel Elementary, 405 Park Ave., Abbeville, LA 70510 or Vermilion Catholic High School, 425 Park Ave., Abbeville, LA 70510.
