Manita K. Meaux

January 30, 1931 — March 25, 2013

Gueydan—Manita Mae Kibodeaux Meaux was brought home to heaven on Monday, March 25, 2013 in the company of angels after 82 years on earth. She touched our lives with her gentle smile and caring touch.

Manita was born to the late Edith (Benoit) and Edwin Kibodeaux on January 30, 1931 in Morse and married J.E. Meaux in January 1950. They lived in Gueydan for the past 63 years and reared seven children. Her faith guided her and sometimes carried her through life.

She went back to school at the age of 42 and graduated with a GED from Gueydan High School to show her children how important she felt a high school diploma was to their future.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and a former member of the Les Dames de Gueydan. She loved to paint and sew.

Family was the most important thing to her. She was a loving, caring, compassionate, and devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband, J. E. (Jules) Meaux; seven children, Sandra Meaux Williams and her husband, Randolph of Winnfield, Roxane Meaux LeBlanc and her husband, Joseph of Lafayette, Donna Meaux Cormier and her husband, Richard of Gueydan, Rhonda Meaux Hobbs of Gueydan, Jennifer Meaux of Kaplan, Jason Meaux and wife, Kimberly of Bryan, TX, and Marshall Meaux of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Louella "Tiny" Bonin of Gueydan; and one brother, Richard Kibodeaux and wife, Juanita of Lake Charles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Edwin Kibodeaux; brother, Edwin Kibodeaux, Jr.; and sisters, Rita Guillot and Eljean Blake.

Her spirit and love will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends and family are invited to the funeral service. A 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Reverend Jason Vidrine, will be held on Wednesday March 27, 2013 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth Street, on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 9 a.m. until the procession departs for the church service. Interment will be in the Gueydan Cemetery.
