Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday March 17, 2008 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, honoring the life of Joseph "Joe" Ognibene who died on Friday March 14, 2008 at Abbeville General Hospital. He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Cemetery in Abbeville with Reverend Gregory Chauvin officiating the services. He is survived by one sister Leona Ognibene and Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Frances Graffeo Ognibene, 5 brothers, Paul, Angelo, Frank, Victor and Phillip Ognibene and 2 sisters, Annie Moore and Jennie Abate. He was a lifelong resident of Abbeville. He played football for Abbeville High as a young boy until he was called to serve our country during World War II. Before his retirement he worked with his brother, Phillip doing auto body repair work. His life was filled with many friends who would get together for fishing trips, and cook outs. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family and will be greatly missed. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville, Sunday, March 16th from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, March 17th from 8:00 am until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
