Jessie Joseph Labit

June 18, 1931 — March 27, 2013

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013 at New Life Church honoring the life of Jessie Joseph Labit, 81, who died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at his residence.

He will be laid to rest at Landry Cemetery with Rev. Lane Payne officiating the services.

Jessie was the owner/operator of Black's Pump and Water Well Services. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, charter member of Louisiana Ground Water Association and past president of Woodmen of the World. In his spare time he enjoyed tending to his cattle and horses and playing a round of golf. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and eating out with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois Fields Labit; son, Michael Labit and his wife, Christine of Abbeville; daughter, Gwen Johnson; sister, Verda Richard; six grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Labit and the former Gertrude Rodrigue; son, Darren Labit; daughter, Karen Labit Pommier; sister, Hilda L. Boudreaux; and brothers, Wilson Labit, Willie Labit and Alvin Labit.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.; Saturday, March 30, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to all of the staff at Eastridge Nursing Center, Senior Helpers and Hospice Compassus who so lovingly cared for Jessie.
