Wendell was a deputy sheriff for the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office for 12 years. After 18 years, he retired from the City of Kaplan as street commissioner.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Pat David of Kaplan; two daughters, Gwen and her husband, David Abshire of Kaplan and Wendi and her husband, Cory Terro of Kaplan; five stepchildren; one brother, Lester and his wife, Bobbie David of Kaplan; ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis David and the former Euland Breaux; and one son, Brandon David.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 10 a.m. until services.
