Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Monday, May 6, 2013 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Dr. Henry Broussard Landry, 88, who died Friday, May 3, 2013 at Abbeville General Hospital.
He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Reverend Corey Campeaux officiating the services.
A native of Abbeville, Henry, or “Potsy” as he was known to friends, was the son of the late Dr. Pierre Olias Landry and Mary Camille “Mazie” Broussard.
After graduating from LSU, and then dental school at Loyola in New Orleans, Henry served as a Captain in the Army during the Korean War. After retiring, he returned to Abbeville where he practiced dentistry along side his father.
Among Henry’s passions were fishing, hunting and LSU football.
He is survived by his sisters, Pat Langlinais of Abbeville and Mary Blackstock of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre Landry and the former Mary Camille "Mazie" Broussard; and brother, Jerry Landry.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, May 6, 2013, from 8:00 a.m until 9:45 a.m. when the procession wll depart for church.
