Farrell’s family is asking that you bring a smile and some of your most cherished memories as they will be celebrating his life and more importantly, the fact that he passed peacefully to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A native of Kaplan, LA and forty-year resident of Scott, LA, Farrell passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings, LA.

Farrell was born on April 12, 1942. He graduated from Kaplan High School in 1960 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years active and two years inactive. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.

He was married to Emma Joy Pitre on March 3, 1973; they were married 32 years. Farrell and Joy have finally been reunited with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and with certainty, are celebrating their time together in heaven.

Farrell worked as a sales and service representative for companies that included Evangeline Maid Bread, Inc., Flowers, Inc., and Sears for thirty-five years. He enjoyed baseball, football, boxing, fishing, his family, good food, and his Bible. He was a member of the American Legion. His family is extremely proud of how he conducted his life these past nineteen years since suffering a massive stroke. He never gave up, never felt sorry for himself and always was concerned and prayed for everyone else. One of the proudest days of his life was when he was able to get his driver’s license again after not driving since the stroke. He was an inspiration to his family.

He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Fontenot and her husband, Manny Leckelt, Charlotte Fontenot, and Michelle Chaney and her husband, Michael Justice; two sons, Kevin Fontenot and his wife, Jamie Fontenot and Joe Fontenot and his wife, Amanda R. Fontenot; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Janell Fontenot Landry and her husband, Mark “Viper” Landry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Joy Pitre Fontenot and his parents, Leo Fontenot and the former Inez Herpin.

Farrell’s family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Rhiannon Cantrelle for the care she gave him these past few years. They would also like to thank the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home of Jennings, LA for their compassion and incredible efforts in senior care and for all those who have gone before us defending our freedom.

Philippians 3:20-21 “But our citizenship, is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.”
