Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Lillian Castro Gaspard, 87, who died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Flannery Oaks Guest House.
She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend William C. Blanda officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Luke Gaspard, Garrett Gaspard, Andre Gaspard, Lucas Gaspard, Brandon Alleman and Lance Castro.
Lillian was born in Mouton Cove, Louisiana on September 12, 1925. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a resident of Groves, Texas for many years before returning home to Meaux.
She was a devoted catholic and belonged to the Legion of Mary at Our Lady of Perpetual Help church in Leroy.
She is survived by sons, Samuel Gaspard and wife, Gwen, and Kevin Jay Gaspard and wife, Maria Pia Saia; grandchildren, Dawn Morris Harris, Russell Morris, Luke, Garrett, Andre, Lucas and Meghan Gaspard; great grandchildren, Logan and Rachel Morris, Mattie Mae Harris, Luc Michael, William Isaac, Elizabeth Claire, William Gage and Abigail Grace Gaspard; one brother, Robert Castro; one sister, Edna Marie C. Schexnayder; seven sisters-in-law; two brothers-in- law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband Luke Gaspard; infant son Michael; parents, Albert Joseph Castro and Arsene Simon Castro; two brothers, Sidney and Harry Castro; four sisters, Rosella Castro Frederick, Una Castro Frederick, Anna Mae Castro Landry, and Louella Castro Baudoin; nieces, Jamie Landry Broussard and Mae Rose Gaspard Hutto; nephew, Timothy Lavergne and great nephew, Frederick Kern Alleman.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
