Louise Winnie Belle Guidry Hargrave

March 3, 1932 — July 6, 2013

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Louise Winnie Belle Guidry Hargrave, 81, who died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Jonathan Janise officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Hargrave, Jaryd Hargrave, James Hargrave, Derek Hargrave, Danny Miller, and Marcus Miller.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Kaplan. Winnie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had an enormous unconditional love for her family and so enjoyed spending time with them. She took pride in caring for her home, loved cooking family meals, loved baking her specialty desserts, and enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone and always gave words of encouragement to those who asked her advice on things. Her love, kindness, patience, and compassion for her family came easily. She was a great lady, wonderful wife, truly exceptional mother, and sweet loving grandmother. Her life was her family. All who knew her, loved her. She will be so greatly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends. Her memory will forever remain in their hearts.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 65 years, Gilbert Hargrave of Kaplan; two daughters, Dorothy H. Hernandez and her husband, Kent of Scott and Linda H. Jacobs of New Orleans; two sons, Michael and his wife, Deborah of Kaplan and James and his wife, Rickey of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Shane Menard of Kaplan, Monique M. McNabb of Conroe, Texas, Jaryd Hargrave of Kaplan, Meagan H. Meaux of Kaplan, Derek Hargrave of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tara W. Bertoniere of Metairie, and Ashley and Jennifer Weinstein, both of New Orleans; eleven great grandchildren, Gage and Rhett Menard, Tyler, Hunter, and Morgan McNabb, Cole, Isabella, and Abel Hargrave, Kloe Ann Meaux, and Cameron and Aubrey Bertoniere. She was so happy to hear that she would be blessed with two more great grandchildren, but God called her to heaven before she was able to meet them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Senua Guidry and the former Rosa Mouton of Kaplan; her only sister, Eula Mae Guidry Miller; her in-laws, Olivier Hargrave and the former Bernice LeMaire; sisters-in-law, Anna Mae H. Gaspard of Port Arthur, Texas, Willie Mae H. Menard of Carencro, and Clara H. Saltzman of Kaplan; brothers-in-law, Wilbert Hargrave, Wilson Paul Hargrave, and Lezy Miller, all of Kaplan.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
