Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Friday, August 30, 2013 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Arlene Comeaux Matthews, 78, who died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Abbeville General Hospital.
She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Neil Pettit officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Mark Matthews, Brent Matthews, Nick Matthews, Kevin Broussard, Richard Breaux and Blake Neveaux. Honorary pallbearer will be Ethan Matthews. Lectors will be Melissa Matthews and Monica Matthews. Giftbearers will be Alva Matthews and Mollie Broussard.
She was very fond of flowers and hummingbirds.
She is survived by her three sons, John Matthews and his wife, Alva, Mark Matthews and his companion, Donna Romero, and James Matthews and his wife, Melissa; two daughters, Paulette Breaux and her husband, Richard, and Darlene Neveaux; brother, James "Jimmy" Comeaux; two grandchildren, Nicholas Matthews and his wife, Monica, and Mollie Broussard and her husband, Kevin; and great grandson, Ethan Matthews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, of 47 years, Raywood Matthews; parents, Hune Comeaux and the former Hettie Hoffpauir; son-in-law, Darrell Neveaux; and great grand daughter, Alana Matthews.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, August 30, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
