Sam Thi "Maria" Nguyen

She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Bam and Father Thien Sai officiating the services. Honorable pallbearers will be her eight grandsons, Sang Nguyen, Jr., Tuan Nguyen, Thao Nguyen, Tung Nguyen, Phuc Nguyen, Hai Nguyen, Tony Nguyen and Hieu Nguyen.
Mrs. Sam was born August 20, 1933 in Vietnam. She came to the United States on November 18, 1990 where she resided in Abbeville, Louisiana.
She leaves to cherish her memory to her loving husband of 63 years, Minh Van Nguyen; five sons, Chi Van Nguyen and his wife Tuoi of Vietnam, Sang Van Nguyen and his wife, Mien of Opelousas, Tan Van Nguyen and his wife, Loan of San Antonio, TX, Cuong Van Nguyen and his wife, Hien of Houston, TX, and Chung Van Nguyen and his wife, Lan of San Antonio, TX; four daughters, Dung Thi Nguyen of Vietnam, Hoa Thi Nguyen and her husband, Chau of Abbeville, LA, Cuc Thi Nguyen and her husband, Linh of Abbeville, LA, and Thu Thi Nguyen of San Antonio, TX; thirty-seven grandchildren; and forty great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Sinh Van Nguyen who was married to Ha of Lafayette, LA.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Monday, September 9, 2013 thru Friday, September 13, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday with a rosary to be prayed daily at 7:00 p.m; Saturday, September 14, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
Donations may be made in Sam's name at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville during visitation.
