Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Monday, September 23, 2013 at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Mission Chapel honoring the life of Dorothy “Dot” Mire Vincent, 85, who died Friday, September 20, 2013 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Cedric Sonnier officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Vincent, Greg Vincent, Seth Laviolette, Jacques Laviolette, Allen Askew, and Jason McLeod.
She is survived by two sons, Elridge J. Vincent, Jr. and his wife, Janet of Abbeville and Charles D. Vincent and his wife, Linda of Kaplan; one daughter, Jo Ann and her husband, Charles Laviolette of Kaplan; two sisters, Ruby Venable of Lafayette and Anna Mae Edwards of Punta Gorda, FL; twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldridge J. Vincent; five brothers, Romain, Calice, Louis, Percy, and Nolson Mire; four sisters, Ezora Adams, Adez Broussard, Solange Guidry, and Laurice Berry; and her parents, Portalice Mire and the former Olive Sonnier.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Monday, September 23, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
