Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Laura Baudoin Duhon, 86, who died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Duhon was a native of Kaplan and lifelong resident of Abbeville. Laura’s true love was her family. She was the most loving mother, wife and caregiver. She loved children and animals and they remained a lifelong love till her death. She was also an avid reader and loved to dance and passed that along to all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Another love was the City of New Orleans where she resided for five years in her youth. The thing she wanted most in life was to be a mother and have children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she achieved that goal. She was also a wonderful cook and loved people by fixing them something to eat with fresh vegetables from her Father’s garden and fresh ingredients from the farm she lived on all her life. She was always there to support us all through our many challenges, triumphs and goals in our lives; she will be dearly missed by her family.

Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Amson Joseph Duhon of Abbeville; four children, Janice Bradshaw and her husband, Frank Bradshaw, Liz Duhon, Cindy Duhon LeBlanc, and Michael Duhon and his wife, Debbie Detraz; six grandchildren, Jason Meaux, Jennifer Meaux Guidry, Libby Jeanne LeBlanc, Aimee LeBlanc Turner, Bryson Duhon, and Lauren Duhon, and seven great grandchildren, Eli Meaux, Timothy Guidry, Sophia Meaux, Amson Meaux, Layla Boudreaux, Jessie Turner, and Jinley Turner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Francois Baudoin and Amy Primeaux Baudoin; and one brother, Frank Baudoin Jr.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from noon until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.

The Duhon family extends a special thanks to their mom’s caregivers, Crystal Ainsworth, Crystal Martin, and Amy Journet for their compassion and loving care of their mom. Also, a special thanks to the Heart of Hospice for the care and comfort provided.
