Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of John Lloyd Luquette, 80, who died Monday, September 23, 2013 at Abbeville General Hospital.
He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery with Reverend Bill Melancon officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Brock Luquette, Cal Luquette, Kade Luquette, Dane Luquette, Pres Summers and Jason Latiolais.
He was a veteran of the United States Army who served our country during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his three sons, John "Sonny" Luquette Jr. and wife Sandra of Abbeville, Kenneth Luquette and wife Wanda of Abbeville, and Tony Luquette and wife Sherry of Cow Island; ten grandchildren, Krystal Summers and husband Pres, Brock Luquette and Jennifer, Ashley Speer and husband Jeff, Janise Gary, Kade Luquette, Cal Luquette, Natalie Luquette, Dane Luquette, Jason Latiolais and wife Ashley, and Racheal Chapman; sixteen great grandchildren; and sister, Elda Hollier of Morgan City.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elida Champagne Luquette; infant son, John Wayne Luquette; parents, Onezime Luquette and the former Marie Noel; and brother, Edward "Sing" Luquette.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m.
