Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Robert "Ricky" Williams, 48, who died Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Terrebonne General Medical Center. He will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery with Reverend Joseph Breaux officiating the services.

RICKY WAS A MAN WHO PUT EVERYTHING HE ATE BETWEEN TWO PIECES OF BREAD!!!

He was a man much admired by his family and friends. He will be missed by so many for so many different reasons. He was a hard worker, an enthusiastic fisherman, a gentle and loving husband, and an honest and dependable friend. His wife, Patricia Williams was the light of his life.

According to his daughter, he was patient and always there when she needed him and he was proud of her no matter what she did. Her memories of Ricky, will sustain her for the rest of her life and set an example for her to live by.

Ricky’s siblings have great and funny memories of him as a boy growing up playing and working together. He was always making the rules of the games as he went along. They loved his laughter and his sweet smile. Ricky was always trying to be the hero or the BIG Brother to his whole family. Each one felt that Ricky was his or her BEST Friend!! Ricky, always, was every siblings' BEST FRIEND. He made each feel that their problem was his and he could solve it for them. He was a little "hard-headed" when he knew it was called for to solve family problems.

Some of Ricky’s life stories are funny, some sad, and some way out there, but Ricky always came through with solutions for each member of the family. Every sibling has a funny story to tell about Ricky and some included posthole diggers, matches, and cars or trucks in ditches. But, everyone agrees that WHEN RICKY LOVED YOU he LOVED YOU with all his heart!

According to Trish, his wife, Ricky was a good man! She will always remember him as a great friend, lover, husband, and life mate, and a very hard worker. He was funny, honest, trustworthy, and very happy! Ricky was dependable beyond a fault!! He worked for a company for 23 years and loved every minute of it. He loved Trish and one of his last chores he was working on, was to buy her an outdoor chimney. He loved his new truck, fishing, camping, bike riding, and eating!!

He also met and befriended one of his best friends, Larry Baker, about the same time and has worked with and for Larry all these years. They admired, respected, and loved each other. Larry’s late wife, Virginia, loved Ricky and he was always there to help her whenever she needed him. She cooked for him and they had a great relationship.

According to Larry, one of the most enjoyable times of their lives together as a team was when they were building Ricky’s new home. Ricky cared for this home and was as proud as he could be to have guests in to eat and take a tour of his beautiful new home. He worked hard and so did his friends and brothers in building this house; it was a labor of love.

Ricky was a family man. He always loved his Mom and watched out for her even though she died at 48 years of age, the same as Ricky. Ricky believed in telling people he loved them and would like to pass this legacy on to his family and friends. LIFE IS SHORT, LIVE AND LOVE WHILE YOU CAN! Ricky will be so missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Trish Williams of Maurice; one daughter, Samantha Williams of Maurice; one son, Derek Williams of Lafayette; father, Wilfred Williams Jr. of Opelousas; two sisters, Patricia Simon and husband, Isaac of Youngsville and Dianna Harmon and husband, Shannon of Rayne; three brothers, Michael Williams and wife, Melissa of Abbeville, Donald Williams and wife, Rebecca of Abbeville, and Jeff Williams and fiancée, Dianna James of Maurice; three grandchildren, Jace Barton, Ollie Williams, and Nicole Williams, all of Lafayette; three sisters-in-law, Jennifer Thibodeaux and husband, Mark of Crowley, Lisa Gaspard of Lafayette, and Odelia Gaspard of Kaplan; three brothers-in-law, Danny Gaspard, Randy Gaspard and wife, Paulette, and Ernest Gaspard Jr., all of Kaplan; mother-in-law, Mary Langley of Kaplan; and father-in-law, Ernest Gaspard, also of Kaplan.
