He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Sheri Collins of Lake Charles; three sons, Matthew Collins of Lake Charles, Justin Collins of Lafayette, and Jared Collins of French Settlement; one daughter, Chelsea Sandifer of Wewahitchka, FL; his mother, Gloria Maitre Guillot and his step-father, Bert Guillot of Kaplan; one step-son, Charles Steinbeck and his wife, Abby of Iowa; one step-daughter, Jessica Steinbeck of Lake Charles; two sisters, Joyce Wright of Bennett, CO and Monica Lormand of Kaplan; four brothers, Leon Maitre of Dallas, TX, Farryl Guillot of Kaplan, Leon Collins Jr. of Church Point, and Darwin Guillot of Cameron; his very special friend who he loved like a brother, Daniel Frederick of Kaplan; and twelve grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Britt Guillot Roberson; one brother-in-law, Neal Lormand; his father, Leon Collins Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Clifton and Isaure Maitre; and his paternal grandparents, Calise and Joyce Guillot.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m.; Friday, December 20, 2013 from 8 a.m. until services.
