Kaplan— Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Dudley John Duhon Sr., age 83, who died Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery.
Dudley was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Southwestern University, Lafayette. For over 32 years he was a teacher in Vermilion parish. He was a member of the American Legion Post 271. Dudley was also an avid dog trainer, specializing in field trials and retriever hunting dogs. He was the son of the late Robert D. Duhon and Emedia Whittington Duhon.
He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Evelyn Marceaux Broussard Duhon of Kaplan; one daughter, Josette Duhon McNett and her husband, Tim of Kaplan; one sister, Agnes Thibodeaux of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Benji John Duhon and his wife, Wendy, Brady John Duhon and his wife, Melissa, Brock Romero, and Blair Romero, all of Kaplan; and three great grandchildren, Braxton John Duhon, Riley Paige Duhon, and Brylyn Romero.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Theresa Vincent Duhon; his son, Dudley Duhon Jr.; one sister, Edmae Duhon Williams; and two brothers, Robert Dalton Duhon Jr. and Joseph Daniel "J.C." Duhon.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Monday, December 23, 2013 from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; continuing Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
