Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Friday, December 27, 2013 at a 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Eula Mae A. Guidry, 80, who died Monday, December 23, 2013 at Kaplan Healthcare Center. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Keith Landry officiating the services.
Having devoted her life to her chosen profession of nursing for nearly 50 years, she has worked at Kaplan Clinic, the office of Dr. Gaulman Abshire, Abrom Kaplan Hospital, Abbeville General, and Kaplan Healthcare Center. Eula devoted her free time many years having served as a Eucharistic Minister, a Lector and Sacristan at Holy Rosary Church. She was a member of Catholic Daughters, Ladies Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Guidry and his wife, Maxine of Henry; one daughter, Cheryl and her husband, David Reed Trahan of Forked Island; two sisters, Beverly Hebert and Pearly Lege, both of Abbeville; one brother, John O. Abshire of Cow Island; one precious grandchild that was her pride and joy, Paul David Trahan of Forked Island; three step-grandchildren; and five step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Danray Guidry; her parents, Eudor Abshire and the former Leonie Hollier; and one sister, Velma Abshire Trahan.
The family would especially like to give thanks to a long time family friend, Sarah Gastal for her loving care, support and many times putting her life on hold to care for Eula during her illness. They would like to also thank Mr. and Mrs. Newton Trahan for giving her communion weekly and to Father Keith Landry for his devotion to making sure her spiritual needs were met. A special thanks to Dr. Phillip Perrett, Dr. Randal Faulk, Abrom Kaplan Hospital, Kaplan Home Care, Terry Fontenot with Kaplan Healthcare Center, and Robin Broussard with Heart of Hospice for the love and support during her illness.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Friday, December 27, 2013 from 8 a.m. until services.
