Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Elodie Guidry Trahan, 86, who died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kendall Faulk officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Timmy Lachaussee, Victor Osburn, Marcus Gunter, Eric Osburn, Matthew Richard, Curt Trahan and Brett Gunter. Readers for the Mass will be Amy Osburn-Torres and Hope Lachaussee. Giftbearers will be Lauren Gaspard, Jessica Campisi, Amanda Williamson, Nicole Lege and Regina Caillouet. Altar servers will be Holly Lachaussee and Abby Lachaussee.
Elodie was a member of the Bayou Carlin Sams Camping Club. Playing cards with friends and family was something she loved to do. She also enjoyed reading and baking.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Alton J. Trahan, Sr.; four daughters, Sandra T. Osburn and husband Victor of Texas City, TX., Roma T. Gunter and husband Edward of Mouton Cove, Darlene T. Richard and husband Rickey of Abbeville and Mary Pat T. Lachaussee and husband Timmy of Abbeville; two sons, Randall G. Trahan and wife Carol of Donaldsonville, LA and Alton J. Trahan, Jr. and wife Jackie of Esther; twenty grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Felix Guidry and the former Regina G. Dubois; sister, Ethel G. Dore; brother, Joseph Minos Guidry and a granddaughter, Lindsay Maria Lachaussee.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for church.
