Walter Abshire

He will be laid to rest at Abshire Cemetery with Pastor Donald Phar officiating the services.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Laura Lemaire Abshire of Abbeville; three sons, Herbert Abshire and his wife Carissa of New Iberia, Michael Abshire and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Abshire of Abbeville, and Ronnie Abshire of Guam; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister, Lena Guillory and husband James of Sulphur; and three brothers, Gordy Abshire and wife Delta of Crowley, Wallace Abshire of Sulphur, and Chester Abshire of Port Barre.
He was preceded in death by his father, Xavier Abshire; mother, Edita Richard Abshire; three sisters, Lauria Mae Abshire, Mary Louise Abshire and Lovenia Marie Abshire Daigle; and one brother, Ernest Abshire.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, January 10, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
