Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of John Sheldon Bourque, 74, who died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. He will be laid to rest at Marceaux Cemetery with Reverend Johnathan Janise officiating the services.

He is survived by his son, Avenel "AJ" Bourque and his wife, Karen of Maurice; one step-son, Wayne Vidrine of Kaplan; one step-daughter, Maylinda Vidrine of Gonzales; one sister, Judy Marceaux of Dayton, TX; one brother, Elton Bourque of Monroe; and two grandchildren, Delvyn C. Kirkhart of Maurice and Nicole Kirkhart of Andover, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Genius Bourque and former Mable Hebert; and his long time companion, Hazel Doucet.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 8 a.m. until services.
