Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 at a 12 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of John Calvin Langlinais, 83, who died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at his residence. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Cedric Sonnier officiating the services.
Mr. Langlinais was a long time Vermilion Parish farmer. He loved the outdoors, was an avid camper, fisherman and loved the camaraderie of the "Cruisin Cajuns" and family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Langlinais of Kaplan; three sons, Garland Langlinais and his wife, Patricia of Houston, Texas, Wade Langlinais and his wife, Bonnie of Kaplan, Chad Langlinais and his wife, Glenda of Kaplan; one daughter, Geraldean "Gerri" and her husband, Thad Foreman of Baton Rouge; one sister, Dolores Primeaux of Lake Charles; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and thirty-six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda Hebert Langlinais; and parents, Wally "Pete" Langlinais and the former Edmay Hebert.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana and also to his family and friends for their support and prayers.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Monday, January 13, from 8 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
