Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Hilda Mae Trahan, 76, who passed away at her home on Monday, January 13, 2014, after a lenghty battle with ALS.
She will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery with Reverend Joseph Breaux officiating the services.
Hilda was born on February 13, 1937 near the Leroy Community.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Edia Trahan; and her grandparents, Julian Trahan and Natalie Desormeaux Trahan.
She was lovingly known as Mae Mae. Crocheting was her favorite hobby. She loved listening to country and gospel music.
Her family caregivers, Claude Ledet, Susie Ledet (cousin), and Tony Broussard (cousin) offer sincere thanks to the staff of Hospice Compassus, Concepts of Care Home Health of Vermilion, and Volunteers of America. Her family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Mrs. Connie, her sitter.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
