John Ira Leblanc

January 2, 1936 — January 24, 2014

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Monday, January 27, 2014 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of John Ira LeBlanc, 78, who died Friday, January 24, 2014 at Abbeville General Hospital.


He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Father Neil Pettit officiating the services.


Pallbearers will be Don Frederick, Jude Frederick, James Northcult, Blake Waldmann, Cody Waldmann and Kyle Collins.


He is survived by his sister, Velma Frederick and her husband, Luce of Abbeville who lovingly cared for him for 42 years; and numerous nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Rene LeBlanc, Sr. and the former Jeanne Vigneaux; and brothers, Wilson LeBlanc, Rene LeBlanc, Jr., Edwin LeBlanc and Pervest LeBlanc.


The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, January 27, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.


The family would like to thank all those who have provided love, prayers and support, all the doctors who took care of him, especially Dr. Esmond Barker, Dr. John Thibodeaux and the nurses at Abbeville General Hospital. Thanks also to the St. Mary Magdelen Eucharistic Ministers who brought Ira communion to help him along his spiritual journey.


Special thanks to Gulf Coast Social Services, Medical Resources and Services, and Regional Homehealth for the wonderful workers they provided to help us keep Ira at home.
