Eula Choate Lene'

August 30, 1925 — February 15, 2014

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Monday, February 17, 2014 at a 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Eula Choate Lene’, 88, who died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at her residence.


She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Neil Pettit officiating the services.

Pallbearers will be Brett Buchanan, Blaine Dugas, Ryan Rabalais Leighton Rabalais, Ashton Rabalais and Jim Jeanmand. Honorary pallbearers will be Slade Arena and Shay LeBouef.


She was an excellent seamstress and loved to bake.


Readers will be Lilah Jeanmand and Ellen LeBouef. Gift bearers will be Stacy Trahan, Ava Dugas, Caroline Buchanan and Sloane Arena. Eucharistic ministers will be Sandra Landry and Cynthia Duhon. The rosary will be prayed by Donna Thibodeaux. Johnny Luquette will sing Amazing Grace, Here I Am Lord, Ava Maria, Old Rugged Cross and Eagles Wings.


The family would like to thank a long time friend and caregiver, Sally Huntley along with her other caregivers, Janette Jesensky and Miss Billy Lege.


She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Lene' Buchanan and her husband Jim Buchanan of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Christie Buchanan Jeanmard and husband Jim of Lafayette, Brett Reed Buchanan and wife Cindy of Tomball, TX., Jill Rabalais and husband Ryan of Abbeville, Blaine Dugas and wife Tia of Pensacola FL., and Joy Lebouef and husband Spencer of Abbeville; twelve loving great grandchildren, Sloane and Slade Arena, Lilah Jeanmard, Caroline, Lauren and Carter Buchanan, Leighton and Ashton Rabalais, Skylar and Ava Dugas, and Shay and Ellen Lebouef; and three sister in laws, Willa Mae Brasseaux, Earline Choate and Naomie Choate.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton Joseph Lene'; daugther, Denise Lene' Gastal; parents, Ophe Choate and the former Mary Hebert; sisters, Eunice Gastal and Joanne Broussard; and three brothers, Lawrence "Shashy" Choate, O.J. "Jay" Choate and Norman "Snap" Choate.


The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 p.m.;Monday February 17, 2014 from 8:45 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. when the procession departs for the church.
