Kaplan—Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Kaplan Cemetery honoring the life of Dalfares Joseph Trahan, 81, who died Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Vermilion Health Care Center. Interment will be at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Kendal Faulk officiating the services.

Dalfares was mayor of the City of Kaplan from 1982 to 1986. He was also the owner of Trahan Farm Service from 1960 to 1987.

He is survived by his son, Mark Ben Trahan of Kaplan; one daughter, June and her husband, John "Boo" Istre of Gueydan; three grandchildren, Shania Broussard, Kalen Broussard, and Marley Trahan; one great grandchild, Jaida LaCombe; two step-grandchildren, Beau Istre and Bobbie Jo LeJeune; and four step-great grandchildren, Grace LeJeune, Emma LeJeune, Ella Istre, and Emme Istre.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Trahan and the former Ophelia Guidry; his wife, Masae "Ms. Lil" Sato Trahan; his brother, John B. Trahan; and his daughter-in-law, Chandra B. Trahan.
